I have always been fascinated by what we can learn by NOT looking at things -- shadows and reflections can tell us more about a person or an object than a direct view can.

Sometimes a third dimension is revealed, sometimes critical information about size or shape is hidden, forcing us to focus on another aspect of the object - perhaps its shape or a spacial relationship between its parts.

Shadow and reflections also give us information about the place or object onto which the shadow is cast - or about the surface that holds the reflection. Textures are revealed, shapes distort the light and the juxtaposition of nearby objects is brought to the fore.

This body of work explores how indirect vision gives us another way to see and understand our world.
